Small-BodyEphemerides
Find an asteroid or periodic comet by identity. Moira maps each body to the exact multi-body shard that carries its trajectory, with direct downloads, coverage boundaries, and full integrity receipts beside it.

Source, transformation, release
Each layer remains independently named
JPL Horizons vectors
Geometric Cartesian state vectors are the upstream trajectory authority.
Moira Type-13 materialization
Moira owns the sampling policy, interpolation materialization, sharding, and catalog metadata.
Immutable hosted release
Every filename is bound to a catalog version, direct URL, metadata receipt, and SHA-256 identity.
Catalog selector
Choose an orbit class.
Search the complete active catalog, then download the one physical shard containing your body. Catalog scope keeps colliding names and compatibility aliases explicit.

Body-first discovery
Find the body. We locate the shard.
Search canonical names and designations, asteroid or comet numbers, NAIF IDs, comet aliases, or any admitted asteroid family. A shard contains multiple bodies; the result names that physical download unit exactly.
Searches 9,974 generated release identities locally. No query is sent to JPL.

Complete-catalog installation
The manifest is sovereign—but not sufficient alone.
A catalog is position-capable only when every BSP and every per-shard metadata file referenced by its sovereign manifest is present and verified against SHA256SUMS. Partial manifests are not admitted as complete catalogs.
02 / BSP + metadata pairs
Every referenced binary and its matching per-shard metadata receipt must be installed.03 / SHA256SUMS
Verifies each artifact before the local catalog can be treated as complete.Method and provenance
Three evidence layers. No blurred ownership.
The release receipts preserve the boundary between upstream scientific authority, Moira-authored computation, and hosted artifact identity.
Layer 01 · source authority
JPL Horizons
Geometric Cartesian state vectors provide the upstream trajectory samples under explicitly named epochs, frames, and target identities.
Layer 02 · authored materialization
Moira Type-13 BSP
Moira owns the sampling schedule, Type-13 serialization, sharding, metadata, and interpolation policy. These files are Moira-generated BSPs, not official JPL or NAIF kernels.
Layer 03 · release identity
Immutable hosting
Published catalog versions bind filenames, coverage, metadata, direct URLs, and SHA-256 receipts into one release identity.
Software licensing
Moira’s authored code and included release materials are governed by the release’s MIT license and notice.
Scientific provenance
Upstream trajectory authority remains separately attributed; MIT licensing does not transfer authorship of JPL data to Moira.
Limits and responsible use
Receipts are not certainty.
- 01Orbit solutions can be superseded as new observations change a body’s fitted trajectory.
- 02Periodic-comet positions are apparition-sensitive because nongravitational outgassing forces can change the fitted path.
- 03An internal serialization round-trip proves file consistency, not external trajectory accuracy.
- 04These ephemerides are not for spacecraft navigation or any safety-critical use.
