Terms of Service

Please read these Terms of Service carefully before using Moira (moira-astro.com). By accessing or using the service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. Moira is operated by Daniel Burkett, an individual based in the United States.

1. Service Description

Moira is an astrological chart calculation and reading service. It computes natal charts, transits, progressions, synastry, and related astrological material, and optionally generates AI-assisted interpretive readings.

Important disclaimer: All astrological content provided by Moira — whether computed, displayed, or AI-generated — is offered for insight, reflection, and entertainment purposes only. It is not medical advice, psychological advice, financial advice, or legal advice, and should not be treated as such. Do not make significant life decisions based solely on astrological readings. If you need professional guidance, consult a licensed professional in the relevant field.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use Moira. By using the service, you represent that you meet this age requirement. We do not knowingly allow accounts for users under 16.

3. Accounts and Security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to notify us promptly at support@moira-astro.com if you suspect any unauthorized use of your account.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Scrape, crawl, or systematically extract data from the service using automated means
• Attempt to reverse-engineer the calculation engine or any proprietary components
• Use the service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law
• Abuse, harass, or harm other users
• Attempt to circumvent access controls, rate limits, or subscription restrictions
• Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

5. Subscriptions and Billing

Moira offers a paid subscription tier called Enhanced at $9.00 per month. Subscriptions are billed monthly in advance through Stripe and auto-renew at the end of each billing period until cancelled.

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings or the Stripe customer portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period; you retain access to Enhanced features until that date. For our refund policy, see the Refund Conditions page.

6. Intellectual Property

The chart data you enter (birth data, saved charts, synastry records) belongs to you. You grant us a limited license to store and process it solely to operate the service on your behalf.

The Moira website, brand, design, and the underlying calculation engine are the property of Daniel Burkett. The open-source Moira engine is licensed under the MIT License; see the GitHub repository for details. Nothing in these Terms grants you a license to the site code, branding, or proprietary components not covered by that license.

7. Third-Party Services

Moira integrates with third-party providers including Clerk (authentication), Stripe (payments), Resend (email), Anthropic (AI), Hetzner (hosting), and Cloudflare (CDN). Your use of the service is also subject to those providers' terms and policies where applicable. We are not responsible for the practices of third-party services.

8. Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components, or that the astrological computations or AI-generated readings will be accurate, complete, or suitable for any particular purpose. Your use of the service is at your own risk.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Daniel Burkett shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or in connection with your use of or inability to use the service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of these Terms or your use of the service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.

10. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Daniel Burkett from any claims, losses, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account and access to the service at any time, with or without cause or notice, including if we believe you have violated these Terms. You may delete your account at any time via the Account Deletion Request page. Upon termination, your right to use the service ceases immediately.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Any dispute arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Michigan.
