How to calculate a Lunar Return
Enter your known birth date, time and place, choose a search-from date, then choose the return place. Moira finds the Moon's next exact geocentric tropical return on or after 00:00 UTC on that date. The roughly 27-day lunar cycle is different from the 29.5-day New Moon cycle.
What the chart shows
The result gives the exact return time in UTC and Julian Day, the natal target longitude, the selected body's placement, and a complete chart wheel with planetary positions, houses and aspects. The return place sets houses and angles; it does not change the geocentric event time. Solar and Lunar results can also include their existing astrological overviews.
Monthly search example
If you choose 1 November 2026, the search begins at 00:00 UTC that day and returns the next exact Moon crossing. To investigate the following monthly cycle, calculate again from a date after the previous returned instant.
Method and availability
Moira calculates tropical, geocentric ecliptic longitude returns using its exact event solver. Major-planet calculations use the website's JPL DE440 ephemeris; asteroid positions depend on the engine's admitted small-body kernels. A catalog listing does not guarantee coverage at every birth or return date. Unknown birth times require a known clock time before calculation, and unavailable bodies or dates produce an error.
This release calculates one return chart. Saving stores your birth data for reuse; it does not archive the calculated return packet.
